Ex-Situ Remediation Chemical Oxidation with Mobile Soil Shredding Unit
ACME’s Ex-Situ Remediation method utilizes a mobile remediation unit to treat contaminated soil onsite. This is done by chemically oxidizing petroleum hydrocarbons utilizing a liquid amendment delivered by a dual spray system. This Ex-Situ Chemical Oxidation process is a more sustainable and cost effective remediation process to save you time and money!
How Does It Work?
Contaminated soils are treated directly onsite using our ex-situ remediation process. By sending the soil through our shredding unit, this creates more surface area of the soil. This allows more soil to be treated with this chemical oxidation solution. This process chemically oxidizes hydrocarbons and other contaminants upon contact and introduces oxygen to the soil. This allows the soil to be more amenable to hydrocarbons and to lift off and leave the soil as CO2.
Advantages
Not only does this process cut costs at the landfill and subcontracting levels, but it reduces short and long-term liability and reduces carbon and landfill footprint as well! Because the soil is remediated onsite, there is no risk of introducing invasive soil species and the rapid treatment upon contact allows for a faster job completion time so there is reduced wait time on closure letters. This ex-situ remediation process keeps trucks off the road and this cuts Co2 emissions greatly. It is also great for site security and reducing roadway hazards and accidents.
Depending on soil conditions, the unit can process 60-100 cubic yards of material per hour. In the event material segregation or additional aeration of the material is required, the unit is equipped with a 6′ diameter by 21′ long trommel.
Sustainability and ESG
Did you know that one gallon of diesel can produce over 10lbs of Co2? Most diesel trucks get an average of seven miles per gallon. This means that during transportation of soil to and from landfills and backfills sources can create nearly 1.5lbs of CO2 per mile! By removing the need to do this in our ex-situ remediation process, this cuts these emissions out completely. In addition to CO2 emissions, landfill footprint is removed from the equation too. By reusing the same soil there’s no dumping contaminated soil in the landfill or the possibility of introducing invasive species to the area.
The environmental aspect of ex-situ remediation is clear, but it also makes a difference in social and governance performance. By choosing a more sustainable process, your company will have chosen a more socially responsible route and your shareholders will benefit from the lower cost, as well.
Ex-Situ Remediation Experience
ACME has successfully remediated soil types affected with a wide range of petroleum hydrocarbons. This list includes gasoline, diesel, condensate and lube oil.
ACME has taken the additional step in offering a more aggressive remedial unit equipped with an internal spray system capable of delivering various remedial additives/chemicals to assist with the remediation process. ACME utilizes a proprietary solution to assist with impacted soils. The proprietary solution is sprayed onto the treated soil, which is subsequently stockpiled pending laboratory analysis. ACME’s chemical oxidation method is recognized by the multiple regulatory agencies. This includes but is not limited to EPA, WDEQ, WOGCC, CDPHE, KDGE, ODEQ, OCC, TCEQ, and TRRC.
