Fact #1: Over 11 million gallons of crude oil was spilled during the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill.
Fact #2: The Exxon Valdez was carrying 1,264,155 barrels (53,094,510 gallons) of crude oil.
Fact #3: The spill covered over 460 miles.
Fact #4: Over 1,300 miles of coastline was affected during the spill.
Fact #5: Approximately 1,000 boats and 100 airplanes were used during the cleanup due to the remote location and rugged shoreline.
Fact #6: It is estimated that 250,000 seabirds, 2,800 otters, 300 seals, 250 bald eagles and 20 killer whales were killed or affected as a result of the spill.
Fact #7: Over 10,000 responders worked to clean up the oil spill.
