ACME’s Year in Review – 2025

A Year in Review – 2025

ACME Environmental’s year in review highlights a standout period of industry engagement, innovative product releases, and impactful fieldwork. Throughout the year, we showcased our expanding capabilities at major trade shows and conferences across the country, connecting with partners who depend on our spill response, remediation, and preparedness expertise. In the field, our teams responded to spill events with advanced containment strategies to protect waterways and sensitive environments, while our soil remediation efforts efficiently restored contaminated sites and delivered both compliance and cost savings for our clients.

Preparedness remained a key focus through Boom School and hands-on training exercises, helping both our team and our clients strengthen response plans for real-world emergencies. Innovation also played a major role this year with the launch of our new Boom Marker Light, designed to improve boom visibility and safety. We also continued development of Geo-Boom™, which enables a containment boom system to be digitally tracked.

From conferences and training to spill response and new product advancements, ACME Environmental continues to lead the industry with reliable, forward-thinking solutions.

ACME In Action

Hennessy, OK Spill

In November of this year, ACME deployed teams of spill technicians to operate our Ex-Situ Remediation Unit and clean up hydrocarbon spills in western Oklahoma. During this period, our team successfully treated and/or disposed of roughly 2,500 yards of contaminated soil and vegetation across multiple job sites, targeting hydrocarbon pollution to help restore the site’s integrity. These operations not only addressed environmental concerns but also played a significant role in restoring the area. In conjunction with our Ex-Situ Remediation Unit, our team used a range of tools, including weed eaters, rakes, and an excavator, to remediate both the contaminated soil and the surrounding vegetation. The materials collected were placed into trucks and a roll-off box and taken to designated disposal sites. For smaller, tight spaces, hand tillers were used to break up the ground, increasing the surface area for our proprietary blend of treatment materials to make good contact with hydrocarbons. We call this method “Till-and-Treat“. Our unique treatment mix of materials, advanced surfactants, and biodegradable agents is specifically designed to tackle hydrocarbons. These materials enhance the natural degradation processes of hydrocarbons, ensuring optimal performance. Compared to other products on the market, our biodegradable formula delivers unmatched effectiveness in cleaning and treating oil-contaminated soil because you can treat it where it lies, recycle it, and not have to haul it off to a dump site. This has changed the game and proves to be the best solution to date.

Galveston Cargo Ship Spill

In the last week of October, a major incident took place at the Port of Galveston. A cargo ship hit the dock during the docking process and damaged its oil reservoir. One or more of the protective buoys that normally keep the ship from hitting the dock were pushed underneath the dock, causing the ship’s hull to strike the concrete and metal structure. This impact created a gash on the left side of the ship. Reports estimate that about 5,000 gallons of oil spilled into the Galveston Channel, requiring a response from several environmental and safety agencies.

ACME Environmental was among the teams called to assist. Working together with Rapid Response Systems, ACME’s drone pilot provided aerial footage to the Incident Command Post, which was operating off-site. The drones gave responders in the Incident Command Post a clear overhead view, allowing them to see the spread of the spill, check on cleanup progress, confirm what equipment was on-site, what materials needed to be replenished, and keep track of personnel in the area.

Using drones proved to be extremely helpful. The high-quality visuals gave decision-makers the information they needed right away, helping them plan cleanup actions faster and more accurately. These digital tools also improved communication and made it easier to direct resources where they were needed most. With a clear, real-time view of both the spill and the response efforts, ACME and Rapid Response Systems helped reduce delays and remove uncertainty from the situation.

In emergencies like this, technology and digital tools such as drones make a major difference in how quickly and effectively teams can respond. The partnership between ACME and Rapid Response Systems shows their strong commitment to protecting the environment and ensuring that when problems occur, skilled teams are ready to act.

New Mexico Spill

In southwestern New Mexico, a semi-truck veered off the road, overturned in a ditch, and ruptured its tank, releasing approximately 7,600 gallons of diesel. The fuel quickly seeped into the soil, spreading contamination across the surrounding area. This significant spill required an immediate response, and our specialized teams were mobilized to contain the damage and reduce environmental risk.

ACME deployed our Ex-Situ Remediation Unit to treat the affected soil efficiently and on-site. With the capability to process 60–100 cubic yards per hour, we were able to remediate the area far more quickly than traditional dig-and-haul methods, which involve excavating contaminated soil and transporting it to disposal facilities.

Well Maintenance

Throughout the year, ACME Environmental has deployed dedicated teams of spill technicians to perform maintenance on nearly 300 well sites across Oklahoma and Kansas. This effort highlights ACME’s strong commitment to environmental protection. Our technicians work diligently to remediate salt and hydrocarbon spills, thoroughly cleaning and revitalizing each location. Their goal is not only to address the damage but to return every site to its original condition, supporting the health and resilience of the surrounding environment.

Tabletop drills further enhance readiness by guiding teams through spill scenarios that challenge decision-making, resource allocation, communication, and role execution. This allows organizations to see how their response plans perform under pressure and gauge overall preparedness.

These drills help to:

  • Verify that current plans are accurate, clear, and practical

  • Strengthen communication among response teams, contractors, customers, and agencies

  • Ensure all personnel understand their roles and responsibilities

  • Identify gaps or outdated procedures before an actual emergency

Each exercise concludes with a detailed review that provides recommendations to strengthen Emergency Response Plans. This ensures your response strategy is compliant, effective, and ready for real-world deployment.

Stay prepared for the unexpected. Contact ACME to schedule a customized spill response drill designed to enhance your team’s readiness and overall response capabilities.
